In 2011 the Community Preservation Act awarded $20,000 grant to further restore The Phyllis A. that was built in Maine in 1925 and retired from the fishing boom off the coast of Gloucester in 2000. The season began a week late, due to the transition to a new operator, and the ferry made its inaugural run yesterday.
